June 2 is primary election day in California, and Petaluma Voice wants to help you make informed decisions about your vote. A number of local races and issues pertinent to Petaluma are on the ballot, including Measure B and the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors District 2 race.

As a small staff that's just getting started, we don't yet have the resources to research all of the issues and candidates. Instead, we'd like to refer you to an excellent voter guide for the upcoming election produced by another nonprofit, independent news organization, Sacramento-based CalMatters.

You can find CalMatters' full interactive voter guide here. (If you're not sure who to select for governor, start with this helpful 11-question quiz.) Incumbent Congressman Jared Huffman is being challenged for U.S. Representative for California's 2nd Congressional District. Three candidates are vying to replace State Senator Mike McGuire, who is terming out and running in the special primary for U.S. House California District 1. With incumbent Damon Connolly leaving the State Assembly District 12 to run for McGuire's seat, a crowded race has six candidates hoping to replace him. There are two official ballot drop boxes in Petaluma: the Petaluma Veterans Memorial Building, 1094 Petaluma Blvd. S., and the Petaluma Community Center, 320 N. McDowell Blvd. Your vote-by-mail ballot must be postmarked on or before June 2. Polls will be open on June 2 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
