Updates will be posted as they become available.
As of 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, with 100% of precincts reporting, the results of local school board races are posted below.
The precincts represent only a portion of the overall votes, as many mail-in ballots have yet to be counted.
School board trustees (also referred to as board members) oversee the governance of local schools. This includes decision-making on policies and budgets and ensuring that the district is adequately serving its students. The role also includes overseeing facilities and staffing, regularly meeting with district administrators, and goal setting.
The most closely watched local race this year is in the largest school district, Petaluma City Schools, where three board members' terms are expiring in December. The three open seats are being vacated by Board President Mady Cloud; Trustee Joanna Paun, who is running for Supervisor District 1; and Trustee Caitlin Quinn, who is running for Sonoma County Board of Education Area 2. Each Board member, regardless of the trustee area in which they reside, still represents the entire district.
