Welcome, new subscribers – and thank you, loyal readers! We publish weekly on Wednesdays, but sometimes you'll see us in your inbox on other days with brand-new content and reminders about past stories.
Today is our one-month anniversary! We're still in our infancy, and while there are late nights and growing pains, we're happy to be in this family with you. To celebrate, we've got our first Re-Fresh Friday.
First we'd like to introduce a new monthly feature highlighting local shelter animals up for adoption. This month, it's Nelly at the Petaluma animal shelter.

In local government, we also have a new preview of the next Petaluma City Council meeting on Monday, May 18, when two key topics will be up for a vote, and a quick roundup of the four candidates hoping to replace David Rabbitt as District 2 Supervisor in Sonoma County.
Also fresh today, a Spanish-language version of our story from this week about two Spanish-speaking city commissioners and the translators who support them.
Finally, from our small but growing archive, please enjoy some of our past coverage of local art and culture, including:
- an engaging new program on KPCA, Petaluma's community-access radio station (available at 103.3 FM and KPCA.fm), that previews upcoming concerts and other events every Thursday afternoon
- an ongoing art show and exhibit dedicated to the Petaluma River and its wetlands that runs through June 7 at the Petaluma Historical Library and Museum
- a monthly free, all-ages funk dance party at the Big Easy in downtown Petaluma called North Bay Get Down
- a Casa Grande High School theater production that made it to the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco – and landed its lead actress a trip to Broadway for the National High School Musical Theatre Awards in June.
