Update 5/4/26 at 2:00 p.m. Headline changed to reflect that Chace is home safe. Please read our update here.
A Petaluma family pleads for the public's help to find their 16-year-old son, Chace Finn, who has been missing since Tuesday, April 28.
Finn left his east Petaluma home that morning without notifying his parents and hasn't returned since. He was reportedly in the downtown Petaluma area that afternoon, according to an April 29 Petaluma Police Department Nixle alert.
In an interview with Petaluma Voice on Sunday, May 3, his mother Nadine Finn said that Chace was seen on Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) video surveillance footage on April 28 and 29.
She said the footage showed him boarding the Petaluma Downtown station with another person at about 2:10 p.m. on April 28. He was walking an e-bike that is believed to belong to the person he was with, his mom said, as his personal bike is still at home. They got off the train at the San Rafael Civic Center stop at 2:30 p.m.
Late the following evening, cameras showed him boarding a northbound train alone without the bike at the Civic Center station at 10:15 p.m. and then disembarking alone at the Petaluma North station at about 10:50 p.m. This is the station closest to his family's home, his mother said. He left on foot going west on Corona Road. That was the last known sighting of him.
Nadine said Chace is missed by his parents and their dog, Twix, who works alongside her at Lawrence Jones Middle School in her special education classroom.

Missing children's search organization Finding Kids has agreed to take on the case and will be using the help of private investigators and social media monitors, she said.
A dedicated team of friends, family, and colleagues have been sharing information on social media and distributing flyers across the region to get the word out, including in downtown Petaluma, SMART stations, areas of Novato, shopping centers, and more.

The family is especially seeking information from Chace's friends and peers, who may know details from a text, conversation, or shared location that could bring the teen home.
“Nobody is in trouble. The way to protect him is to come forward so we can bring him home safe,” Nadine said.
