Movement is the word of the week. Here at Petaluma Voice, we continue moving forward. Current goals include increasing our visibility in town and incorporating more voices and perspectives into our coverage. Thanks in large part to the critical support of our donors and paying members, our work is paywall-free and available to all. We intend, in turn, to reflect and represent all of Petaluma in our stories and photographs.
This Week's Stories
Skateboarding is art in motion, and Lucchesi Park will soon be seeing a lot more of it with the recent groundbreaking of a new, world-class skate park.

In Scene & Herd, we've got video of shovel-wielding councilmembers commemorating the occasion.
Get Out!, our monthly nature and outdoors column, explores another, more serene form of movement: rowing the ebbs and flows of the Petaluma River at dawn.
We have a dispatch on forward momentum in the decades-old effort to do something about the dilapidated railroad trestle downtown.
And we report on breaking news about impending transit cuts that will impact many Petalumans' ability to move around the city.
5Qs this week features a conversation with farmers' market manager Kelly Smith, as the return of the Saturday market at Walnut Park this month means summer is just ahead.

Finally, California's primary election day is Tuesday, June 2, and we'd like to refer you to an excellent voter guide produced by another independent, nonprofit news organization, Sacramento-based CalMatters.
In Case You Missed It: Schools
Calling all high school families! Do you have a loved one graduating in June? Petaluma Voice wants to give you a chance to honor them with a shout-out that will be published through the month of June. Submit your graduate's photo (horizontal, please) plus a short dedication and we will compile a slideshow to share with readers.

Our very first story, before our official launch, was about local schools. Our debut issue on April 15 included an item about Pride flags flying on Petaluma City Schools campuses. Since then we've covered a Casa Grande High School theater production and a new effort to help high schoolers find the right fit for prom. Summer is around the corner, but stay tuned for more stories about local schools coming soon.
