This is the final week of the school year for many local students, but there's always more to learn – for adults, too. Speaking of which, here at Petaluma Voice we're still learning and growing every week, so let us know how we're doing. Paying members can comment on stories, and anyone can send feedback and news tips to news@petalumavoice.org. We'd love to hear from you – and we're excited for you to see all that we have planned for the summer and beyond.
This Week's Stories:
Congratulations to Petaluma's newest high school graduates. If you'd like to honor your grad by adding a shoutout to our growing slideshow that will be published through the month of June, submit a photo (horizontal, please) plus a short dedication.
Right on the verge of summer break, Petaluma City Schools has announced a new superintendent, Davina Goldwasser, who will replace Matthew Harris. This is just one of many leadership changes happening now in the district.
Eager young readers looking for books to keep them busy over the next couple months have a friend in children's book specialist Patty Norman, featured in this week's 5Qs.
Meanwhile, Petaluma's new Reuse Hub is launching into a busy schedule of summer workshops teaching aspiring do-it-yourselfers to repair and repurpose common household items.

As one institution ramps up, another closes its doors for good. We've got the scoop on just-scrapped plans to relaunch Sacks Hospice Thrift Shoppe in downtown Petaluma.

Friday, June 5, is National Donut Day, and to celebrate we've got a photo essay highlighting the edible art of Somanea Ou at Donut Den in east Petaluma.

In local government news, Mayor Kevin McDonnell announced on Saturday that he will seek re-election this fall.

Finally, Scene & Herd finds a baby deer hiding beneath a truck. Doris Duncan, executive director of Petaluma's Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue, fills us in.
In Case You Missed It: Transportation
The ways we get around say a lot about who we are, and have a big impact on how we spend our time (and, usually, our money). Recognizing the importance of transportation, in recent weeks Petaluma Voice has covered budget cuts to Petaluma Transit, money allocated to street repairs and improvements, the work of the Petaluma Airport Commission, and the cars of "American Graffiti."
Of course, you can also get around by boat or skateboard, and let's not forgot those old train tracks.
