This Week's Issue

Mother's Day is Sunday, May 10, and Petaluma Voice wants to recognize and honor all Petaluma mothers.

That's something Mothers Care does day in and day out. The Petaluma nonprofit specializes in helping parents work through pregnancy and the first few years of their little one's life.

Thanks to the multi-year efforts of one Petaluma couple, an east side garden has become a key pit stop and nursery for monarch butterflies.

In keeping with this week's theme, 5Qs features an interview with Sierra Dator, mom and founder of Wise Girl Workshops.

Many proud parents surely celebrated Casa Grande High School students' performance of "Carrie: The Musical" at the Orpheum Theatre on Sunday night, and we've got video in Scene & Herd.

On top of that, lead actor Samara Castro won Outstanding Lead Actress at Sunday's regional finals and now advances to the National High School Musical Theatre Awards on Broadway in New York City.

We also have an update on the missing Petaluma teen who was found safe and sound Sunday evening.

In other news, at Monday night's council meeting, city staff presented an update on Petaluma's progress toward its state-mandated housing goals. Here are the key takeaways you need to know.

Finally, an info-packed new program on KPCA 103.3 FM, Petaluma'a community-access radio station, highlights upcoming concerts and other events every Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

In Case You Missed It: 5Qs

Each week we reach out to a notable Petaluman, take some fabulous photos, and ask them five questions. The first four questions pertain to their line of work, while the last is more personal. We never know quite where it will lead.

On April 15, we spoke with Petaluma Library historian and 2026 Butter and Egg Days "Good Egg" Connie Williams.

Our April 22 subject was Refill Mercantile co-owner Dawna Mirante.

And on April 29, we talked to Cottage Gardens owner Fionuala Campion.

Check 'em all out to see what they had to say.
