Happy summer, everyone. And happy Father's Day, which this year falls on Sunday, June 21: the longest day of the year, the Summer Solstice, the first day of summer – and a good opportunity to reflect.
It's now been two months since we launched. Thanks to all of our subscribers new and old, especially our paid members. We couldn't do it without you.
This Week's Stories
In recognition of Father's Day, we bring you the stories of three Petaluma dads who are making a difference in the lives of other local men and teens.
We also share a moving conversation with Dom Gizzi Jr. and Joelle Whalen, who lost their father, Domenic Anthony Gizzi, last May.
Our main news story covers The Vacancy Project, an initiative of Petaluma Urban Chat that seeks to promote discussion and develop policy addressing empty lots and buildings downtown.

Thanks to past, current, and projected water-conservation efforts in Petaluma, the city's potable water needs should be more than accounted for through 2050 even as the city continues to grow, according to a recent staff report.
At the Petaluma Fair running June 18 through June 21, ag will be front and center. “My goal is to take pieces of agriculture and push them into the fair,” said Paulette Swallow, Petaluma's new agricultural program manager.
Finally, in Scene & Herd we have a series of photos by Rob DeVenuto of the old Scott Ranch on D Street Extension that is set to be added to Helen Putnam Regional Park.

In Case You Missed It: Mother's Day
In honor of Mother's Day, our May 6 issue included a story about the Petaluma nonprofit Mothers Care providing postpartum care, and an interview with Sierra Dator, Petaluma mom and founder of Wise Girl Workshops.
